What is Ethiopian Cult Information Center (ECIC)?

ECIC is an educational community Providing informations for victims of cults, their families and friends, researchers and the media. It is the first educational organisation focusing critical concern on the harmful methods of the cults to be granted charitable status for Africans (Special Focus on Ethiopia).

ECIC's Concerns:-

ECIC is concerned about the use of deceptive and manipulative methods used by cults to recruit and indoctrinate unsuspecting members of society. ECIC believes that these cult methods present a threat to the well-being of the individual and the family. Todd Bentley has a confession to make. A faith healer who has attracted international attention over the past several months, Bentley presents himself as a reformed bad boy who was once jailed for 18 months for "crimes of an assault nature" and breaking-and-entering in his hometown of Gibsons, B.C. Many of you will have already heard about the "Healing Revival"that has purportedly broken out in Lakeland, Florida. Today Charisma Magazine put out a piece on it entitled 'A Holy Ghost Outbreak in Florida' - "...Charismatics are flocking to the sleepy town of Lakeland, Fla. to attend evangelist Todd Bentley's unconventional revival services." Is Charisma preparing to hype this one to the skies like they did with Toronto and Rodney Howard-Browne? It seems perhaps they are. But why am I opposed to this 'Healing Revival' so soon after it has been announced? -It is because I already know Todd Bentley's ministry all too well, and this whole thing centers around him.

Todd Bentley actually has deep roots in the Prophetic movement, and he is one of the very few ministers that I have ever felt I had to publicly warn people about by name. -His ministry is that bad. False "angel" encounters of the weirdest kind, gold dust, guided visualizations of the "Third Heaven" that are straight out of the New Age, etc. And yet there is a "power" with it that makes it all the more dangerous.

Here is how Charisma describes his Florida meetings- "His methods are far from polished. When he prayed for people in Lakeland, he usually began by laying his hand on their heads and then yelling, "Bam!" Often the people fell backward to the floor. After one elderly woman fell, Bentley told the audience: "She doesn't know why she fell down." The woman then laughed and said to him in the microphone: "Because you pushed me!" He prayed for her three more times that night, and she said she could hear better...During the past three weeks people have testified of being healed from heart conditions, skin rashes and back problems, and many said scars disappeared...Many charismatics are wondering if the protracted meetings will become a phenomenon similar to what happened in Rodney Howard-Browne's meetings in Lakeland in 1993, at the Toronto Airport Vineyard Church in Canada in 1994 and at Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola in 1995..." Sadly, the Charismatic movement is in such a sick state today that it would not surprise me at all if this happens. (-I say this as a strong Spirit-filled, tongues-speaking believer myself. I am by no means opposed to genuine miracles). Have we completely forgotten the warnings of "Lying signs and wonders" in the Last Days? Below is a testimony by Lynn Clark who is a Moderator at our website 'RevivalSchool.com'. This is what she wrote about her involvement with Todd Bentley's ministry:

"I decided to check out Patricia King and Todd Bentley and, ignorant of their 'third heaven' guided visualizations, attended a five day conference of Patricia King and then two of Todd Bentley's conferences and began to imagine third heaven visitations – guided visualization - still not realizing that these are actually spirits of darkness - the New Age calls them spirit guides demons is what they are. And so I bought Todd Bentley's teaching on third heaven visitations and brought it home to listen to. "I was in my living room laying on the floor listening to the teaching on how to visualize the third heaven and what to say and was getting caught up into his teaching and all of a sudden I began to shake uncontrollably and jerk and groan, and no sooner had this taken place I became frozen stiff - I could not move any part of my body and I knew this was a demon trying to take hold of me, and so with all the effort I could muster I cried out, "God save me - Jesus help me" - and as soon as I cried out to the Lord my body went limp. God spared me that night and I will be forever grateful. "I spent much of the night in tears asking God to forgive me – and renouncing all the hands layed on me and all the awful deception I had opened myself up to..."

ANDREW AGAIN: I myself have heard the tapes of Todd Bentley's "Third Heaven Visualization" teachings, and I want to tell you – they are straight out of the New Age handbook. -Terrible stuff. And yet so widely accepted by thousands of Christians today. Dear people!
I'm, from Pula, Croatia, and I'm so happy that find this site. It is scarry how simmilar are some testimonies like things that happens in my ex church. I'm not so good in english but belive that can describe what happens here?still. My ex churc is under Foursquare church. And I was there 11 years. Lot of things like fearing people, controlling intimate life of people, scandals and lot of other things that heppend in other people lifes are a part of this church. I leave this church year ago and still have problems with anger and disappointment. Lot of marriages that was maked in church are became divorces?lot of hurted people?My chritical looking to wrong things started when i met my husband. He was once in church but not going for years?He slowly tried to make me understand that there are a lot of things in church that a not good for my health. When I started to date him, the pople who are in pastors circle wanted to control our relationship. I was very confused?and I was praying good to tell me what happens?my mind was in big mass?They always talk about making new churches?so my friend tried to open one. It was good but they finaly destroyed his merriage and his psihical health. When I once said to few pople of church that is so bad that pastor and his wife want to controll everything I was called to conversation with pastors wife and she said that I must give to her triple honore and that i can't be pastor, and I'm not on the spiritual level to know why they do such things. When I asked her to tell me what's really going on she said that my level is not enogh to understand. My pastor is on a court because someone accuse him for sexual abuse ?I beleived to him when he was talkin he is not guilty but this people want to destroy him?but now I'm in a big guestion that this is mybe a truth?The woman who is in worship was in affair with my fried's husband?I was praying God to show me the truth so this friend call me and show me mobile messages of that woman to her husbandt?When I saw that I was completly destroyed?couldn't belive?so disapointed and so angry?because the same woman and pastors was telling me how I must live in purity?they pushed people to make confesions of their sins before all chzrch..but they didn't do it themselves?they still are pastors and they call me and other pople who moved out enimies and antichrists?Now I try to come to myself, go to psyhologist and my fait is on misserable level?but still belive that God is good?Than's God that I find you troug Internet?It is very encouraging that there are lot of people with same struggless?Thanks alot again

It's so nice to know that there are Ethiopians who are concerned about the invasion of Ethiopia and other African countries by "cults" from the west. I live in Ethiopia and have observed first hand the damage these "evils" are causing. I've tried to do what I can to fight this but without success and have given up, almost. There certainly appears to be child abuse involved here, and indeed, they are disturbing. In the Gospel of John 10: 11 - 13, it says: ?I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand is not a shepherd who owns the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.?
